Mild Chipotle Salsa Recipe


  • 1 pound green tomatillos (approximately 6 medium sized)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 2 chipotle peppers
  • 2 chilis de arbol (can put more or less depending on how spicy you like)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • cilantro (about 6 stems)
  • 3 tablespoons oil


  1. Cut the tomatillos into quarters
  2. In a medium pan on medium heat add the oil and preheat for 1-2 minutes
  3. Add the onion, garlic, and chilis de arbol
  4. Stir for 1 minute and then remove the chilis from the oil
  5. Add the tomatillos to the pot and cook for 5-6 minutes
  6. Add the cilantro, and return the chilis de arbol into the pot along with the chipotle peppers
  7. Cook for 3 minutes (stirring periodically)
  8. Add all of the ingredients to a blender along with the salt
  9. Blend to a desired consistency (start on low and increase the speed)
  10. Enjoy!
